Campaigns officer

Full time - The role is envisaged as full time, but applications to work part time will be considered. Permanent after a six-month probation period.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week.

Salary: From 26k – starting salary may be significently higher for an exceptional candidate with relevent experience.

Location: Holborn, London. Employees are required to be in the office for core days with flexibility outside of these.

About the role

We're looking for an enthusiastic individual with a demonstrable commitment to the campaigning aims of the NSS. Based out of our central London office in Holborn, you'll work closely with our head of campaigns and wider team to ensure our campaigning and lobbying work is always well organised, of a consistent high quality, engaging and impactful. The successful candidate will be able to bring together information to communicate our messages effectively, including writing policy consultation responses, reports and other copy, liaising with external organisations and allies, and supporting all work related to our policy agenda.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Assist with the drafting of campaign content, press releases, web copy, correspondence, and consultation responses
  • Undertake research as required to support our campaign work
  • Monitor news, events, opportunities, parliamentary debates and developments related to our areas of interest
  • Assist with enquires from members, the media and the general public
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of NSS events

Who are we looking for?


  • Excellent communication skills, including in writing
  • Strong research skills and the ability to digest complex topics and make them understandable for wide audiences
  • Self-motivation and a willingness to take the initiative
  • Comfortable with a taking on a variety of different tasks
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • High attention to detail
  • Interest in secularism and the intersection of religion and human rights.
  • A passion for campaigning and making a difference.


  • Experience in organising, planning, or delivering campaigns
  • Experience in writing copy for news, opinion or other online content
