Queen Of Controversy Hits The Hot Button Again

Pop singer Madonna is no stranger to controversy and strains to be provocative in her stage shows. Now, though, she may be biting off more than even she can chew with her next tour. Entitled Confessions, it will see the star dressed as Jesus in a specially created Jean Paul Gaultier costume. The rig out will consist of a torn, off-the-shoulder white blouse, velvet cropped pants and crown of thorns. M. Gaultier is calling it “biblical chic”. (Although, we’ve never actually seen Jesus depicted in velvet cropped pants, we’ll take the designer’s word for it). We should not forget it was M. Gaultier who created for Madonna the now iconic cone-shaped bustier.

The Church of England is not, of course, amused. (Being amused is against its religion). “Is she prepared to take on everything else that goes with wearing a crown of thorns?” asks an eternally infuriated and po-faced spokesman. “Why would someone with so much talent feel the need to promote herself by offending so many people?”
