West London consultation on school transport changes

Posted: Fri, 25th Jan 2013

The London Boroughs of Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Harrow and Hounslow (collectively known as the West London Alliance) have launched a consultation on home-to-school transport. There is no indication in the consultation document that they intend to remove subsidies for pupils travelling to "faith schools". Indeed, the document includes support for (page 5):

"Children aged 11-16 where the parents/carers have expressed a preference based on their religion or belief, where a young person lives more than 2 miles but less than 15 miles from the nearest suitable school."

If you live in any of these boroughs and would like to take part in the consultation, the document can be accessed here. Points to raise are included in our briefing paper on school transport (PDF).
