The National Secular Society is delighted to announce that human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell will present its Secularist of the Year prize for 2018.
Peter is an NSS honorary associate who won the prize in 2012 for his lifelong commitment to human rights, particularly in fighting for LGBT+ equality. The award also honoured his support for a just and inclusive secular society.
Stephen Evans, the NSS's chief executive, thanked him for agreeing to hand out the prizes at this year's event.
"Peter Tatchell has been a tireless and consistent campaigner for human rights for decades. We are very honoured to have him as an honorary associate and we thank him for agreeing to present our Secularist of the Year prize.
"His presence will certainly add some extra star power to this event and we very much look forward to hearing what he has to say about the continuing campaign for secularism."
Secularist of the Year is an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding groups and inspiring individuals advancing secularism and related human rights. The winner will be awarded £5,000.
The awards luncheon and social reception will be held on Saturday 24 March in central London. Tickets, which are now on sale, include a three course meal and welcome drink.
