BBC to do Darwin proud

The BBC is planning a raft of programmes to mark the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin. David Attenborough will present a film on BBC1 looking at the importance of the theory of evolution. Andrew Marr will introduce a three-part series on BBC2 on how Darwin has influenced our politics and religion. Also on BBC2 In Darwin’s Garden features Jimmy Docherty (farmer and zoologist), who visits Darwin’s Home, Down House in Kent, to re-create his plant experiments.

BBC4 has two documentaries What Darwin Didn’t Know and Darwin: in His Own Words. Radio 4 will be giving the religious overkill a rest for long enough to fit a couple of relevant programmes in, as will Radio 3.
