The Big Debate – controversial start to the Protest the Pope campaign
Sparks are expected to fly at the first event of the Protest the Pope campaign, a debate on Wednesday at Conway Hall with the resolution: “The papal visit should not be a state visit”. Speakers for the motion are: NSS Honorary Associate Professor A. C. Grayling and Human Rights campaigner Peter Tatchell. Speakers against the motion are: Catholic Journalist Austen Ivereigh and Fr Christopher Jamison, the Abbot from BBC TV's 'The Monastery'. The debate will be chaired by Polly Toynbee. A lot of media outlets have expressed an interest in this debate, so we expect wide reporting. Don’t miss it! Arrive early to be sure of a place.
